This poem was written as a response to the Covid-19 lockdown. It started as a title and something I wanted to write as a catharsis for myself but as the words hit the page it felt like I was writing it more for my children, Arthur (8) and Alyssa (7).
As a result the natural choice was to have them narrate it. Visuals are a mix of archival Super 8mm film from the 1970’s and a more recent home movie of a family holiday I shot on Super 8mm and hand processed. The ‘Keep Smiling’ image at the end was created bu Arthur.

BETTER DAYS (By Stuart Bailey) Better days are coming better days have been better days are missed by all remembered in a dream These four walls are closing in my head can’t tell what’s real but better days are coming that I truly feel Better days are coming better times I’ll have but now I’m home with family and that I’m glad I have When all of this is over a memory it will be and I’ll be stronger for it just you wait and see And the world will start again refreshed and full of love we’ll go outside and see our friends and run, and shout, and cheer we’ll hug and kiss all those we missed now better days are here Better days are coming better days have been it won’t be long for better days to come around again
